Research for a sunny future!
Who are we and why are we doing this?
We certainly owe our success to many factors but one stands above the rest – our intrinsic motivation to enable positive change. Since the very beginning, this and our core values have fuelled every single research project and every cooperation.
It was no different in 2005 than it is today. Back then, our 17 founding members, mostly physicists from the University of Konstanz, launched the “International Solar Energy Research Center Konstanz” (ISC Konstanz) as a registered non-profit association. Today, our international team of over 50 employees researches and develops crystalline silicon solar cells, modules, and overall energy systems. Our solar cells are both highly efficient and cost-effective to produce and, particularly in the field of crystalline n-type solar cells, ISC Konstanz now occupies a leading position worldwide.
Our Institute is primarily financed by public research contracts, mainly from the EU and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK), as well as by industrial contracts, IP licensing, and technology transfers.
