Final work on the solar energy system on the new ISC building

Dear readers,

At the ISC Konstanz, we are working tirelessly to advance the energy transition. To this end, we are continuing to push ahead with our sustainable new building for our research in the field of solar energy. At the same time, we are working on concrete innovations and future models for solar energy in Germany, Europe and the whole world – for a future worth living.

New building: progress and solar panels in operation

Our new building is making great progress! Thanks to the tireless efforts of Kristian Peter and our architect Thomas Klettner, we are making rapid progress:

  • The solar panels on the roof are fully installed, and the storage tanks and inverters are connected. As soon as the municipal utilities in Constance give their approval, we will start producing our own electricity.
  • With the installed 270 kWp system, we expect an annual electricity yield of 250,000 kWh – that saves up to 60,000 euros in electricity costs, which we can invest directly in further expansion.
  • Inside, work is also progressing: the floor slab is finished, and today the walls for three new laboratories will be delivered.
Dr Kristian Peter, a member of the board of directors, sits on the ridge of the roof of the new ISC building just as all the modules have been installed.

The Executive Board lends a hand: Dr Kristian Peter mounting the last module on the roof of the new ISC building.

Successful launch of the PV PILOT project

The PV PILOT project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), was launched in October with the aim of establishing a resilient ecosystem for photovoltaic production in Germany.

  • ISC Konstanz is working together with leading partners such as Fraunhofer ISE, ISFH, Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, RCT Solutions and the VDMA.
  • The project will create the basis for future-proof PV factories through scenario analyses and pilot production environments.
  • An initial highlight: the workshop initiated by the ISC Konstanz on 23.10.24 in Frankfurt showed the great interest of industry in a German pilot line for testing equipment and conducting demonstrations.

Workshops of the ISC Konstanz: Innovation in a global network

This year’s BifiPV workshop took place in Zhuhai (China) from 20-22 November, organised by the ISC Konstanz in collaboration with AIKO Energy. Around 350 experts from around the world exchanged ideas on current developments in c-Si solar technology and bifaciality and visited one of AIKO Solar’s state-of-the-art production facilities.
Our workshops have a long tradition of promoting technological innovation:

Button: "donate now"

Become a progress maker today

Whether with effective donations in kind, with know-how and personal commitment or with monetary donations: our projects for a tomorrow worth living are only possible if we can count on a strong community of supporters. Here you will find information about the various ways to support us.
We look forward to discussing with you how you can become part of our future work – and thus make an important contribution to promoting the energy transition. From a donation for ten symbolic square meters of land, to a donor loan for the PV system, to a supporting membership, to financing a process laboratory – every form of support makes an important difference.
