How can a networked pilot line bring together research, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing in Europe?

This question is the focus of the PV ACTION workshop, which will take place on November 6, 2025, at PVA TePla in Wettenberg.

The new PV ACTION project (funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection) builds on the findings of the successful LIBERTAS and PV PILOT projects. The aim is to establish a technology-neutral, distributed pilot line for solar cell and module technologies – operated by leading research institutes and networked via digital interfaces.

The workshop brings together stakeholders from industry, research, politics, and associations to jointly develop specific requirements and usage scenarios. A particular focus is on:

• the integration of mechanical engineering innovations into a practical research environment,
• international technology transfer (e.g., to the US or India),
• and the political and organizational framework conditions for an open pilot line structure.

A central element is the interactive part of the workshop, in which participants can directly contribute their perspectives and help shape the implementation. The results will be directly incorporated into further project planning and policy recommendations
