Europe’s solar industry is on the move. This was evident at two key events in which ISC Konstanz played a key role: at EU PVSEC 2025 in Bilbao and at the international Modules & Materials (M&M) Workshop at the Council of Constance.

With 13 researchers, ISC Konstanz was strongly represented at EU PVSEC in September – in lectures, posters, and discussion panels on topics such as copper metallization, perovskite tandem cells, and module design. The module department in particular underscored its leading role in interconnection technology.
Numerous discussions with industry experts at our booth made it clear that the reconstruction of European solar cell and module production is in full swing. Different countries are bringing momentum to the process – the path to “Made in Europe” is clearly emerging.
Workshop in Konstanz: Modules & Materials
In October, around 100 international experts discussed how Europe can regain its production expertise at the Modules & Materials Workshop in Konstanz. “There is so much knowledge and innovation in Germany and Europe – now we have to act,” said Dr. Radovan Kopecek, co-founder of ISC Konstanz. Prof. Dr. Peter Fath (RCT Solutions) also emphasized: “We need a European ISC² – an initiative for manufacturing Made in Europe.”
Panel discussion and audience at the Modules and Materials (M&M) Workshop at the Council of Constance: There was great interest in the possibility of manufacturing in Europe.
ISC Konstanz – a driving force in European solar research for 20 years – is consistently implementing this vision: a new research center with state-of-the-art equipment and a sustainable energy supply is being built right next to the previous location. Project manager Rudolf Harney: “We have to build something new, whether we want to or not – and of course we can do it. With partners, sponsors, and supporters who believe in our vision.”
