Our Recycled Photovoltaic Installation

The modules of our own photovoltaic installation installed on our southern facade of the ISC building consist of 100 % recycled Si-solar cells.
In wintertime
our recycled installation succesfully competes with an installation consisting of new cells nearby. The figure below shows the monthly yields of our pv installation and the "new" pv installation during 2010. In wintertime the yields of both units are even. In summer, however, our installation is faced with a loss of power due to the modules mutual shading. On the other hand the modules also provide shade for the building countervailing the warming of the hall and thus saving energy needed for air conditioning. The other two figures show the yield of our installation in 2010 and the weather-caused variety in energy-yields 2008-2010.
