Stefan Schmitt was born in Trier, Germany and studied Applied Physics at the RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. In 2009, he wrote his bachelor thesis on passivation under the supervision of Dipl. Phys. Roman Petres at the ISC Konstanz.
He has been working at the ISC Konstanz as a process engineer for passivation since February 2010.
