Dr Joachim Glatz-Reichenbach

Dr Joachim Glatz-Reichenbach was born and raised in Nuremberg. He completed his studies in Physics in 1986 with an experimental diploma thesis in the field of Mössbauer Emission Spectroscopy at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg's Faculty of Physics.

Between 1987 and 1991, he worked on his PhD thesis titled "Structure, Dynamics and Electrical Properties of Thin Ferroelectric Polymer Films". The thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr Klaus Dransfeld at the University of Konstanz. Afterwards, in 1992 and 1993, he was employed as a post-doctoral visiting scientist at the Imaging Materials Characterization Department of Eastman Kodak Corporation in Rochester, NY, USA.

From August 1993 to December 2004, he worked in various positions as a project and team leader at ABB Corporate Research Center, Baden-Dättwil, Switzerland. His main activities included developing functional non-linear materials for electrotechnical applications, such as electrical contacts and power switches. They further included "organic electronics", surface technology and nanotechnology.

In the following years, from 2005 to 2008, Dr Glatz-Reichenbach held the position of product development manager for data storage and photovoltaics at Umicore Materials in Balzers, Liechtenstein. In this position, he was responsible for coordinating between the company's R&D and marketing departments as well as buyers of applications for large area coating and thin film photovoltaics.

Dr Glatz-Reichenbach has been working on several projects at ISC Konstanz since as early as 1 August 2008. As a project manager, he is currently responsible for PERC solar cells and for optical and electrical characterisation. Since early 2013, he has also been a project manager for applied photovoltaics with a focus on smart systems and storage technology.
