The aim of the SUNI projects is to use solar power and water purification as tools to ameliorate the conditions in rural schools, hospitals and tribal areas.

Where we work

As one of the emerging regions, the South is one of the economically strongest areas in India. Still, there are problems which we are able to tackle

  • Waterborne diseases due to bad water quality/access to water, mostly in schools and hospitals where it matters most
  •   Insufficient connection to electricity grids in the rural medical stations
  • Still high birth mortality rates ? sometimes due to power cut-offs where necessary equipment simply can not be used
  • Insufficient lightning in the classrooms

What we do

  • Installation of the solar panels in schools and medical centres
  • Installation of water purification systems in schools and medical centres
  • Solar engineer/electrician training for the people involved in the project to ensure the maintenance and to pass on technological knowledge
  •   Training of groups of women to enable them setting up their own business
